Liz Jacklin is an experienced trial attorney with a passion for criminal defense.
Liz has handled misdemeanor and felony cases in Oregon and Virginia. Liz’s approach to her work is characterized by a genuine interest to get to know her client, allowing her to better understand their needs and provide personalized representation.
Liz earned her law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law. After graduating law school, she was selected to be a Gideon’s Promise Fellow, which led her to Virginia to work with underprivileged youth. As a Gideon’s Promise Fellow, she represented juveniles and adults on cases that ranged from misdemeanors to serious felony offenses. Liz returned to Oregon in 2021 and continued her fellowship at the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office as a felony attorney.

Nick McCormick is a criminal defense attorney with Janet Hoffman & Associates.
Prior to joining the firm, Nick practiced as a Certified Law Clerk with the City of Wilsonville City Attorney’s office. There, he prepared and tried several municipal court cases related to traffic violations, authored memoranda and public contracts, and spearheaded several municipal code revision projects. Before this, Nick served as a Legal Intern for a small civil rights firm, where he worked with adults in custody drafting habeas corpus petitions and motions for post-conviction relief.
In May 2023, Nick earned his law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon. Nick was recognized as one of the best oral advocates in his class and served as the Executive Editor of the Environmental Law Review. Prior to law school, Nick received a bachelor’s degree from Portland State University in Political Science and Criminology, where he graduated with magna cum laude honors. He is licensed to practice in Oregon and is a member of the Multnomah County Bar Association.
Beyond his professional commitments, Nick is dedicated to community service. He has volunteered at the PCC Clear Clinic as part of the Record Expungement Clinic, demonstrating his commitment to justice and equity. His commitment to public service was further acknowledged with the Lewis & Clark Law School Pro Bono Honors Award.
Chris Heywood is an experienced Trial Attorney who handles misdemeanors, serious felonies and Measure 11 matters throughout Oregon. Chris brings his unique insight as a former prosecutor to the firm and leverages that experience to aid his clients in all aspects of their case. Mr. Heywood has handled hundreds of criminal cases in his career and has taken more than 70 cases to trial, including serious felonies and Ballot Measure 11 offenses.
Prior to joining the firm, Chris worked as a Deputy District Attorney with the Clackamas County District Attorney’s office for five years. While there, Chris handled serious felony matters including cases involving charges of murder and attempted murder, sexual abuse and felony domestic violence.
Chris received his law degree from University of Oregon. He also earned a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University where he studied Political Science and Criminal Justice. He is licensed to practice in Oregon and is a member of both the Clackamas County and Multnomah County Bar Associations.
