Ethan Hazel is a Criminal Defense Attorney with experience in federal and state level felony and misdemeanor litigation. He has represented clients charged with domestic violence crimes and has experience with complex environmental and financial cases involving parallel civil proceedings.

Ethan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Oregon School of Law. As a law student, Ethan clerked at the Federal Public Defender for the District of Oregon. There, he gained experience in complex felony cases, representation of clients charged with misdemeanors, and appellate litigation. He previously worked as a Judicial Extern for a federal magistrate judge, where he gleaned insight into the inner workings of the federal criminal system. Ethan also holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Santa Clara University.

Ethan is licensed to practice in the state of Oregon.

Chris Heywood is an experienced Trial Attorney who handles misdemeanors, serious felonies and Measure 11 matters throughout Oregon. Chris brings his unique insight as a former prosecutor to the firm and leverages that experience to aid his clients in all aspects of their case. Mr. Heywood has handled hundreds of criminal cases in his career and has taken more than 70 cases to trial, including serious felonies and Ballot Measure 11 offenses.

Prior to joining the firm, Chris worked as a Deputy District Attorney with the Clackamas County District Attorney’s office for five years. While there, Chris handled serious felony matters including cases involving charges of murder and attempted murder, sexual abuse and felony domestic violence.

Chris received his law degree from University of Oregon. He also earned a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University where he studied Political Science and Criminal Justice. He is licensed to practice in Oregon and is a member of both the Clackamas County and Multnomah County Bar Associations.

Justin T. Rusk is a Criminal Defense Attorney with over a decade’s experience in the legal profession and is committed to providing exceptional legal representation to individuals and companies facing serious accusations. Justin’s unique experience and insight as a former federal career clerk managing complex criminal and civil case dockets informs his handling of criminal and quasi-criminal proceedings in state and federal court, government investigations and professional misconduct claims.

Prior to joining Janet Hoffman & Associates, Justin was a federal clerk in both Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Rusk has experience representing individuals and organizations in a broad range of complex criminal and regulatory matters and government investigations including securities fraud, False Claims Act violations, Controlled Substance Act violations, and matters involving cryptocurrencies. Justin has also represented individuals in professional licensing investigations including before the Oregon Medical Board and the Oregon Board of Pharmacy.

In 2021, Justin’s was nominated to Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in the area of Criminal Defense. Justin is licensed to practice in state and federal courts in Nevada, Oregon and Washington as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Multnomah Bar Association, the MBA Judicial Screening Committee and the Gus J. Solomon American Inn of Court.
