Ethan Hazel

Ethan Hazel is a Criminal Defense Attorney with experience in federal and state level felony and misdemeanor litigation. He has represented clients charged with domestic violence crimes and has experience with complex environmental and financial cases involving parallel civil proceedings.

Ethan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Oregon School of Law. As a law student, Ethan clerked at the Federal Public Defender for the District of Oregon. There, he gained experience in complex felony cases, representation of clients charged with misdemeanors, and appellate litigation. He previously worked as a Judicial Extern for a federal magistrate judge, where he gleaned insight into the inner workings of the federal criminal system. Ethan also holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Santa Clara University.

Ethan is licensed to practice in the state of Oregon.


Christopher Heywood

Chris Heywood is an experienced Trial Attorney who handles misdemeanors, serious felonies and Measure 11 matters throughout Oregon. Chris brings his unique insight as a former prosecutor to the firm and leverages that experience to aid his clients in all aspects of their case. Mr. Heywood has handled hundreds of criminal cases in his career and has taken more than 70 cases to trial, including serious felonies and Ballot Measure 11 offenses.

Prior to joining the firm, Chris worked as a Deputy District Attorney with the Clackamas County District Attorney’s office for five years. While there, Chris handled serious felony matters including cases involving charges of murder and attempted murder, sexual abuse and felony domestic violence.

Chris received his law degree from University of Oregon. He also earned a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University where he studied Political Science and Criminal Justice. He is licensed to practice in Oregon and is a member of both the Clackamas County and Multnomah County Bar Associations.


Ian Downs

Ian Downs is a Criminal Defense Attorney who comes to Janet Hoffman & Associates LLC having represented individuals in hundreds of criminal cases involving charges such as sex crimes, fraud, violent crimes, drug manufacturing and distribution and theft. He has tried more than fifteen cases and has experience defending clients in stalking and restraining order hearings, as well as Title IX procedures.

Ian received his law degree from the University of Arkansas, graduating cum laude. As a law student, he gained valuable trial-level criminal defense experience while clerking with the local Public Defender’s office. Mr. Downs also earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas, studying communications and public relations.

Mr. Downs is licensed to practice in Oregon and is a member of the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Washington County Bar Association.
